European shares inched up on Monday after hundreds of thousands demonstrated on Sunday in Catalonia against a proposed declaration of independence.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index increased 0.2 percent and Germany’s DAX hit an all-time high on solid industrial output data.

Spain’s IBEX 35 increased 1% to 10,306.80, its top since Oct. 2.

France’s CAC 40 index was unchanged at 5,359.57.
