Review: European stock markets

European stocks fell slightly in early trading on Tuesday, after a four-day break as investors await the upcoming of Presidential elections in France.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index fell 0.14% as European trading began, a sharp increase in the German DAX index 0.1%.

The euro rose 0.07% against the U.S. dollar in early trading, but signs of stress emanating from the upcoming French elections were evident in other parts of currency markets.
