Review: European stocks rise, led by German and British blue chips

European stocks inched up on Friday on steady tech shares and automakers, though gains were capped as Societe Generale reported a 15 percent drop at its investment banking unit.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.2 percent, on track for its second straignt week of gains, while Germany's DAX touched a record peak, increasing 0.4 percent.

Britain's FTSE 100 advanced 0.3 percent, following the Bank of England's first rate increase in more than 10 years.
