Review: European stocks subdued as investors examine Brexit

European stocks ticked up on Thursday, supported by an increase in oil stocks as investors examined probable consequences of UK officially beginning the process of departure from European Union.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index added 0.1 percent after a muted start, with regional indexes trading little changed.

The reaction to UK officially starting the Brexit process on Wednesday was rather calm by European shares, with the FTSE 100 index higher as pound dipped. The FTSE 100 added 0.1 percent.
