The Japanese stocks ended lower on Thursday.
The major index Nikkei fell by 0.8%, to 19,063.22.
The broader TOPIX index dropped by 0.94%, to 1,527.59.
The Japanese stocks followed Wall Street lower, but in general, investors took a wait-and-see position ahead of the end of the fiscal year.
Investors also wait for statistical data on the national economy, the publication of which is scheduled for Friday.
