Review: Nikkei 225 rises above 21,000 for first time since 1996

Japan's Nikkei 225 rose above 21,000 on Friday for the first time since 1996. The index advanced 1.0 percent to 21,155.18.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng sank less than 0.1%, the Chinese Shanghai Composite rose less than 0.1%, the Australian S&P / ASX 200 added 0.3%, while South Korean KOSPI fell 0.2%.
