Japan's stock index Nikkei fell on Monday in volatile trading after the slightly strengthened yen dampened investors' appetite. Nikkei slid by 0.2% to 22,495.99 points.
Traders say that the dollar's decline versus the yen and the continued sale of Chinese stocks have spoiled the mood.
China's stock market slipped again after a fall on Thursday. On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index lost 1%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong fell by 0.7%.
The Kospi index in Seoul sank 1.3%.
