Review: Pound dips as Carney says BoE cannot prevent all Brexit effects

The pound dipped to a two-week trough on Thursday after BoE Governor Mark Carney said the regulator was not able to nullify the likely negative effects on the economy from Brexit.

Sterling fell to as low as $1.3344, its lowest since Sept. 14. It lost 0.3 percent to 88.01 pence per euro.

Robust UK retail sales figures on Wednesday bolstered expectations of a BoE to raise interest rates in November.
