Review: Pound shrugs off political turmoil, holds firm vs dollar

The pound edged up on Thursday as anticipations for a step-by-step tightening of monetary policy from the Bank of England defended sterling from the political dismay over Prime Minister Theresa May’s government.

The British currency was unchanged versus the greenback at $1.3116.

It was also stable against the European single currency, at 88.41 pence.
