Review: Pound soars above $1.27 on BOE's hawkish comments

The pound jumped above $1.27 on Wednesday, following hawkish comments made by Bank of England (BoE) chief economist Andy Haldane.

In a speech at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford Mr. Haldane, said he would likely vote for a rate hike in the coming months.

Last week, the BoE’s Monetary Policy Committee voted 5-3 to hold interest rates at a record low.
