The pound was firm on Monday after a vehicle drove into pedestrians near a London mosque, killing at least one person and injuring 10 other people, as markets focused on the start of Brexit negotiations.
Sterling was steady at $1.2777 in early trading on Monday.
The euro was firm at $1.1195, extending Friday’s 0.5 percent increase. On Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron won a large majority in the French parliament.
The greenback rose 0.1 percent to 110.98 yen, after hitting a two-week peak on Friday.
