Review: U.S. Federal Reserve keeps its benchmark interest rate steady

The U.S. Federal Reserve refused to increase interest rates at its policy meeting on Wednesday and said Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida will not affect essentially overall economic activity.

The Federal Open Market Committee kept its benchmark interest rate target between 1 percent and 1.25 percent, after raising it twice so far this year.
