Review: U.S. stocks open higher, Powell hearing in focus

The S&P 500 touched a record peak in early trading on Tuesday, boosted by gains in technology stocks and ahead of a Senate confirmation hearing for Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve chair nominee.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 0.22 percent, to 23,632.21. The S&P 500 advanced 0.193356 percent, to 2,606.45. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.18 percent, to 6,890.85.
