Review: World stock markets

European stocks edged higher on Thursday, European Central Bank shares also showed some shake-up after Mario Draghi's proposal to ease deflationary pressure, though energy stocks lost ground as oil prices fell.

U.S. stock markets were distinguished by growth on Thursday, following a rebound of energy stocks since the bull market quietly celebrated its unofficial eighth birthday.

Asian stocks rose and the dollar rose to a 1-1/2-month high against the yen on Friday, ahead of the U.S. non-farm payrolls report release.
