Royal Bank of Scotland posts third straight quarter of profits

Royal Bank of Scotland has recorded a third quarter in row of profits.

The state-backed lender has reported profits of £392m for the July-to-September period and £1.33bn since the start of the year. However, the bank said it does not expect a full-year profit.

RBS is still waiting a multi-billion dollar penalty from the U.S. Department of Justice for selling toxic mortgage bonds before the financial crisis.
