Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) unveiled its smartphone Galaxy S8 still not winning in the competition with Apple Inc (AAPL.O), giving the world championship to the technical giant after the recently released fire-phone Note 7s, which became dangerous for people.
Two versions of the Galaxy S8, under the code-named "Dream", were presented at a special event in new York on Wednesday, Galaxy S8 and S8+. They will go on sale on April 21 in three countries - Canada, South Korea and the United States, and then go on to other markets in the following weeks.
"We must be brave enough to go to a new level, not forgetting the lesson of past mistakes," said Koh Dong-Jin, head of mobile company at the event after confirming that it was a difficult year for Samsung.
Koh suggests that the S8 surpass its predecessor Galaxy S7, released in 2016.
T-mobile US Inc (VT.O) and Verizon Communications Inc (VZ.N) announced retail pricing for 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 around $700 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ will sell for $840 at Verizon and $850 at T-mobile.
