South Korea's Samsung Electronics on Monday will hold the official opening ceremony of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturing plant in India.
The new factory is expected to be capable of churning out up to 120 million smartphones a year, including both the most budgetary models cheaper than $100, and the flagship smartphone Samsung S9. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, smartphones worth up to $250 are the most popular in India.
The Indian smartphone market showed the strongest growth among the world's top 20 markets in 2017, according to IDC. Sales in the country jumped 14% to 124 million units. India has overtaken the United States and placed second in the world after China.
