Tesla increases electric vehicle sales by 69% in first quarter of 2017

American electric carmaker Tesla Motors increased sales of vehicles in the world by 69% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year.

In January-March, the company delivered nearly 25,000 electric vehicles, including 13,450 Model S cars and 11,550 Model X SUVs.

At this moment it is the company's best quarterly result, the Wall Street Journal notes. Earlier Tesla stated that it plans to sell 50 thousand cars in the first half of the year.

The capitalization of Tesla has increased by about 30% since the beginning of this year, as a result it almost reached the market value of Ford Motor Co., whose history is more than 110 years old.
