Three-quarters of euro area's citizens support single currency

The confidence of the euro area's residents in the euro and the currency bloc rose to a 12-year high, according to the the latest Eurobarometer poll. Currently almost three-quarters of respondents support the membership of their countries in the currency bloc.

Overall, 56 percent of Europeans are optimistic about the prospects for the EU.

Optimism in the euro area continues to grow after the UK's decision to leave the EU (Brexit).
