Total signs $4.8 billion deal with Iran

France's Total signed in Tehran a $4.8 billion deal to develop its gas field.

The French company will lead the consortium to develop the 11th offshore section of the South Pars deposit - the world's largest natural gas field.

Total holds a 50.1 percent stake in the South Pars project, alongside state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation with 30 percent, and Iran's Petropars with 19.9 percent.
