On Tuesday, April 18, U.S. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order "Buy American, Hire Americans". The decree will affect visa policies, trade agreements and government procurement.
The order, according to the administration, will increase the share of American goods in public procurement under federal contracts. Responsible agencies will have the right to review trade relations with other countries if there is a suspicion that their producers have greater access to government contracts in the U.S. than U.S. companies to state contracts in these countries.
The order also applies to visas issued to foreign workers. The document instructs the Departments of Labor, Justice, National Security and Foreign Affairs to take measures to close the loopholes in the U.S. immigration system in order to protect American workers. Departments must propose changes in the procedure for issuing working visas H-1B, so that they were available really for the most qualified and highly paid candidates.
