U.S. consumer expenditure expands in April

Consumer expenditure in the U.S. grew exceeding forecasts last month, another evidence of growth picking up traction at the start of the second quarter, as inflation keeps increasing firmly.

Other of today’s reports highlighted that the number of U.S. citizens applying for unemployment compensation declined more than predicted in the previous week.

Consumer expenditure, which ensures over 2/3 of economic activity in the United States, rose 0.6% in April, the sharpest upswing in five months, according to the Commerce Department.
