U.S. consumers expenditure softens in October

U.S. consumer spending lost steam in October as the hurricane-related rise in motor vehicle sales dissolved.

Consumer spending increased 0.3 percent last month after jumping 0.9 percent in September, the Commerce Department reported.

The fresh figures firmed anticipations that the Federal Reserve will increase interest rates in December. The regulator has increased interest charges twice this year.
