U.S. new home sales jump to 10-year peak last month

Sales of new U.S. separate houses unexpectedly surged in October, touching their top in 10 years amid impressive domestic demand.

New home sales rose 6.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 685,000 units in October, the Commerce Department reported.

Sales increased 18.7 percent on an annualized basis last month.
