U.S. stocks edged up in early trading on Thursday, boosted by gains in bank stocks and on reports that the Republicans’ tax plan was on course for decisive votes in Congress before the end of the year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 0.19 percent, to 24,632.5.
The S&P 500 advanced 0.135945 percent, to 2,666.47.
The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.17 percent, to 6,887.19.
Traders also assessed the news that Walt Disney Co buys parts of 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion in stock.
