U.S. stocks inched up in early trading on Thursday, boosted by rise in the technology, industrials and energy sectors.
The S&P 500 index ticked up 0.1%, to 2,631, after four sessions in a row of losses.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%, to 24,174.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.3%, to 6,795.
Investors focused on continued progress on the tax bill and awaited monthly employment report due Friday.
