U.S. stocks inched up in morning trading on Thursday, supported by strong earnings reports and a fall in the dollar after the ECB’s news conference.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.36 percent, to 26,347.77, the S&P 500 rose 0.21 percent, to 2,843.47 and the Nasdaq Composite ticked up 0.37 percent, to 7,442.66.
Shares of Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV rose 1.6%. The car concern reported its profit increased to a record level in 2017 due to strong sales of SUVs and luxury cars.
Kroger Co. shares were up 1.6% on information that the grocery retailer is negotiating a partnership with Alibaba Group Holdings.
