UK car manufacturing dips for fifth straight month in 2017

UK car output dropped 4.1 percent to 153,224 cars in September, a fifth straight month of declines, the UK Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reported.

Consumer sentiment remains weak than before Prime Minister Theresa May lost her parliamentary majority after a June snap election and has slumped since Brexit vote last year, although it has edged up recently.

According to forecast, British new car registrations will tumble this year by almost 4 percent from 2016’s record 2.69 million vehicles.
