UK car sales drop for fifth straight month

New UK car registrations slumped for the fifth straight month in August, the strongest decline since 2011, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Sales dropped by an annual 6.4 percent to 76,433 new cars, with market pull among businesses and physical persons both slipping.

About 1.64 million new cars had been sold in 2017 so far, that is 2.4% lower compared to the last year.
