UK economy expands more than expected in third quarter

The UK's economy rose at 0.4 percent rate in the three months from July to September, increasing the chances the Bank of England to raise interest rates next week for the first time in ten years.

Britain's GDP picked up 1.5 percent in annual terms, according to data from the Office for National Statistics.

The recent 0.4 percent growth figure boosted expectations the Bank will raise interest rates from their current record low of 0.25% on 2 November.
