UK house prices will grow only by 1% in 2018, at a weakest pace since 2011, Rightmove is predicting. In many regions of the country housing prices are currently at the peak of affordability.
Tightening requirements for mortgage lending and raising taxes for people buying a second home restrain the market. Many homeowners are slow to put up houses for sale amid economic and political uncertainty.
According to Rightmove estimates, in 2017 house prices will increase only by 1.2% after rising by 3.4% in 2016 and by 7.4% in 2015.
