UK inflation jumps to 2.9 percent in August

UK inflation accelerated to 2.9 percent in August due to the weak pound, the Office for National Statistics reported on Tuesday.

The British currency climbed 0.9 percent to $1.3277 after the data, its top versus the greenback since September 2016.

Against the single european currency it rose 0.6 percent to £0.9012, its highest intraday level since August 4.
