UK jobless rate falls to 4.7%

The number of UK citizens receiving unemployment benefits in February 2017 decreased by 11.3 thousand after an increase of 41.4 thousand a month earlier, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). In total, there were 737,700 people claimed for unemployment benefits last month.

The level of registered unemployment in February remained at the January level of 2.1%.

Unemployment in the UK, calculated according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization, in November-January fell to 4.7% - the lowest level since the summer of 2005 - from 4.8% three months earlier.
