UK retail sales unexpectedly surge in August

UK retail sales increased by more than expected in August, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.

Sales volumes jumped 1 percent in the month, boosted by spending on goods such as watches and jewellery.

BoE is likely to raise interest rates in November if the economy grows as it currently predicts.
