Upbeat U.S. economic figures boost Asian stocks

The Asia-Pacific markets were set to end the week modestly higher, following Wall Street's rise overnight on fresh economic data showed the GDP increased in the third quarter at its fastest rate in more than two years.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares rose 0.5 percent.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.3 percent, while the Shanghai Composite Index dived 0.1 percent.

Australian shares climbed 0.15 percent, South Korea's KOSPI advanced 0.45 percent and Japan's Nikkei inched 0.15 percent higher.
