Volkswagen scandal has led to the tightening of rules

On Tuesday, the European Parliament approved stricter rules the approval of new vehicles aimed at resolving conflicts of interest between national regulatory authorities and their national manufacturers, to avoid repetition of the scandal with Volkswagen.

EU lawmakers voted 585 to 77 in favor of a bill that would strengthen oversight of the EU and Brussels to fine automakers up to 30 000 euros per vehicle.
