Wall Street’s indexes advance in penultimate trading day of 2017

U.S. stock indexes edged up slightly on Thursday, supported mostly by rise in technology and bank shares, in thin holiday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.21 percent, to 24,827.38 and the S&P 500 ticked up 0.11 percent, to 2,685.66.

The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.19 percent, to 6,952.74.

Apples shares are recovering on Thursday, up 0.7%, as the iPhone maker tries to reduce a fall of nearly 2% so far this week, amid concerns over sales of its iPhone X and reports of claims against the tech company.
