World’s 500 richest people lost $114 billion due to fall in U.S. stocks

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI), the world's 500 richest people lost $114 billion in a day amid plunge in U.S. stocks on Monday.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Chairman Warren Buffett lost $5.1 billion. Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg's, fortune slumped by $ 3.6 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos took third place in terms of losses - $3.3 billion. Google's co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin lost 2.3 billion dollars in a day, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates's fortune slipped $2.25 billion.

The Dow Jones index fell by 4.6% on Monday, its biggest intraday loss since August 2011.
