China's CATL to Supply Cars with its EV Chassis in 1st Overseas Project in Turkey

BEIJING, May 7 (Reuters) - Chinese electric vehicle battery giant CATL said on Thursday that it would co-develop ‌cars based on its Panshi EV chassis with Turkish EV maker Togg, marking the first overseas supply of the Chinese EV platform.

The two companies will jointly develop three B-segment models, with the first model scheduled for mass production in 2027, according to a company statement.

CATL is continuing to expand partnerships in Europe, Southeast Asia and other markets, it said in the statement, without elaborating.

The partnership will support the development of new electric vehicles for the Turkish market, Togg ‌said, and the models are set to be available in Turkey gradually from the middle of next year.

The EV battery specialist, the world's largest, launched the so-called "skateboard" chassis at the end of 2024, touting safety as a key selling point, as it pushes beyond batteries.

Last year, CATL said it would partner with Changan Mazda to develop EVs based on its EV chassis.
